Ongoing medium-scale road safety improvements through the installation of autonomous lighting systems at pedestrian crossings on national roads

In 2021, our company installed over 300 autonomous lighting systems (ALS) along national roads across 12 regions of Ukraine, enhancing road safety and supporting community well-being.

ALS is a fully independent lighting solution that includes a solar panel (or multiple panels), a control cabinet (with battery storage, MPPT charge controller, and balancer), and an LED streetlight — all integrated into one system.

The solar panels generate electricity, which is stored in rechargeable batteries.

The controller manages the system intelligently: it regulates safe charging to extend battery lifespan and automatically turns the lights on or off based on ambient light levels. It uses signals from the solar panel’s light sensor to activate the batteries and power the light during nighttime.

A great example is the pedestrian crossing installed on Highway M12 (Vystupovychi – Zhytomyr – Mohyliv-Podilskyi).
